A few weeks ago I started getting obsessed with bows - everything I made/bought had to be a bow in some fashion.
(hah. no pun intended there...)
So, of course I took up my hook and yarn and figured out how to crochet a bow. It's like the simplest thing you can make, ever. Seriously. If you can crochet a rectangle, you've got this.

I love making these! Though, I've always done it where you crochet a separate rectangle to wrap around the middle...yours looks a whole lot easier, I'll start doing it that way! :) Thank you for the tutorial!

What kinda of yarn do u recommend for this? Any kind, or a specific weight? These are super cute! Thanks for the tutorial!
Hey Dawn! For this I believe I used a bamboo yarn that was leftover from my mom's scarf. But I've made bows with every type of yarn available (almost, hah) and they've all turned out great. I have noticed Red Heart Soft and Caron Simply Soft have been brands I tend to go to when I need to make a bow... I guess because they are soft but still hold the bow shape. Those are both 4-ply weight, which is a yarn I use often.
But really, any yarn at all will work great. Just depends on what you're going for. Sport weights will work well, but it might tend to droop slightly... mainly just depends on how loose you crochet with it. :-)
Oh - the pink and gray bows are made with Caron Simply Soft, the green is with Stitch Nation Bamboo Ewe yarn. :-)
I have been making these as fast I can LOL .... so easy to make and put a pin at the end for hair or as pin on your jacket!

FennellFanClub - hey there! So glad my tutorial was useful to you. "hdc" stands for "half double crochet." Instead of pulling through two, pull through two like you would on a double crochet, you pull through all three one time. Hope that made sense if you're not familiar with that stitch! Thanks!

Nope, it really doesn't. I used a thinner yarn, so a smaller hook was best. If you use a thicker yarn, use a bigger hook. But especially for something like this, it really doesn't matter. :)
